Small: A few mobile apps to help your field personnel stay connected and accomplish more. Or maybe a customer management system to avoid duplication of customer data. Simple tracking of core company data.
Medium: Customers, orders, inventory, simple invoicing, some job tracking.
Large: Full business system with all of the above, plus web presence, mobile, job costing, and accounting system integration (i.e. QuickBooks). Systems with highly complex rules or very detailed job tracking.
